Steelhead is a type of rainbow trout that is found in the far north, usually in Lake Erie. In the late winter and early spring these fish come out of the Great Lake and make their way back up the streams that they were born to lay their eggs and start a whole new generation. Hardcore fishermen take advantage of this time period, and head north for a fishing experience of a life time.

During this time not all streams have steelhead in them. Anglers need to look for fish in certain streams. This happens because the majority of the first steelhead that were in existence took the easiest route up the streams to lay their eggs, so now the current steelhead take the routes of their ancestors.

There are many ways that anglers use to catch these fish. The most effective way to catch these fish is by dragging bait on the bottom, but there are many other ways that anglers choose to catch these fish. Some of these include hanging a bright pink worm under a bobber to tying a nymph at the end of a fly line.

But every individual angler has there own way of catching these fish, because not every bait set up works at every location. This happens because there might be different food sources that are plentiful. For example a worm might work best because the stream might be close to an embankment and when it rains worms wash easily down into the stream for the steelhead to consume.

Finally, steelhead is an exciting fish to try to catch; there are many ways and many different places to go to catch these fish. So for an exciting time head north and try for these

fish.
