Whether it’s Jack the Ripper or Ted Bundy, we have all heard about horrible crimes committed by monstrous criminals. The following scenarios deal with kidnapping, cannibalism, rape, torture and murder. They are perhaps some of the most heinous crimes of all time.
The kidnapping and murder of Grace Budd- On May 27, 1928 Edward Budd put an ad in the local newspaper for possible work. The ad read “"Young man, 18, wishes position in the country." That day Albert Fish went to the Budd residence in response to the ad. He told the family his name was Mr. Frank Howard and he would pay Edward $15 an hour to work on his farm. While at the Budd’s residence, Albert took a liking to their oldest daughter Grace Budd, age 8. He convinced her parents to let him take Grace to a birthday party, and she was never seen again. Detectives held a widespread search but could not find the missing child or her abductor. Six years passed without any whereabouts of Grace when Mrs. Budd received a letter in the mail. The letter described how he had taken Grace to an empty house, stripped her naked and choked her to death. He then went on to describe how and it took him 9 days to eat her entire body. He wrote “How sweet and tender her little ass was roasted in the oven.” The cops were able to trace the stationary he used back to him and he was arrested then later executed by electric chair.
The rape and imprisonment of Elisabeth Fritzl- An Austrian Man, Josef Fritzl held his daughter captive for 24 years. Josef Fritzl created a hidden “dungeon” in the basement of his home, where he held his daughter, Elisabeth Fritzl captive for 24 years. When Elisabeth was 18 years old her father took her captive. Rosemarie Fritzl, the mother of Elisabeth never knew anything about her daughter’s enslavement. Josef forced Elisabeth to write multiple letters claiming that she ran away. Throughout her years of captivity, Elisabeth was constantly raped, in which resulted in the birth of seven children. Three of those children have never been out of the ‘dungeon’. Josef received life in prison. The death of Andrew and Abbey Borden- On August 4 1892 Andrew and Abbey Borden were found brutally hacked up to death in their Massachusetts home. At the time of the murders only two people were home; the house maid, Bridget Sullivan and the daughter of Andrew and step daughter of Abbey, Lizzie Borden. The maid claims that at 11 o clock she heard Lizzie yelling for her claiming her father’s dead. Both Andrew and Abbey were killed by an axe, which was never recovered. Evidence was reported that suggested 32 year old Lizzie Borden might have killed her father and stepmother. In the house conflict had increased between the Lizzie and her dad about his decision to divide valuable property among relatives. The fight resulted in Lizzie storming off for days, returning and coincidently finding her parents dead. The day before Lizzie tried to purchase prussic acid but was denied. Also, a few days after the murders, Lizzie burned a blue dress in the kitchen stove claiming she brushed against fresh baseboard paint. Lizzie was arrested on August 11, 1892. Her stories were inconsistent and caused speculation. She was later acquitted, no one was ever found guilty. Murder of Junko Furuta- On November 25, 1988 16 year old Junko Furuta was kidnapped and held captive for 44 days by 3 boys. During her captivity she was tortured in every way possible including rape, made her eat cockroaches, dropped dumbbells on her stomach, forced her to drink her own urine, beat her with metal golf clubs and rods, inserted fireworks into her body and set them off, and multiple other incidents that are too explicit to list. On January 4, 1984 the three men beat her with an iron barbell, poured lighter fluid on her arms, leg, face and stomach. Later that day she died of shock. The next day the boys hid her body in a 55-gallon drum and filled it with cement, later disposing it in reclaimed land. The boys were arrested and rather then pleading to murder they pleaded to the lesser charge of “committing bodily injury that resulted in death.” The leader was sent to 17 years in prison, one accomplice was sent to 4 to 6 years, and the other 3 to 4. The Abduction and Murder of James Bulger- Two 10 year old boys by the names of Jon Venables and Robert Thompson abducted 2 year old James Bulger from Strand Shopping Centre on February 12, 1993. After previous but failed attempts to abduct other children. The boys tortured and relentlessly kicked the 2 year old, put batteries in his mouth and beat him with a 22 pound iron bar which resulted in a skull fracture. Dr. Allan Williams’s claims that there were so many injuries not one could be determined as the deadly blow. The two then placed Bulger’s body on train tracks to make the murder appear as an accident, but it was later determined that the train hit James body after he had already been dead. Jon Venables and Robert Thompson were found of James Bulger’s murder and sentenced to a minimum of 8 years. They were released on June 2001.
