Junior Katherine Weaver, better known as Katie, describes herself as being very passionate about sports. Most of the activities she is involved in at school and outside of school are centered around sports.
“I get very competitive, even if I’m not very good at them,” said Weaver, who enjoys playing volleyball.
Aside from playing volleyball, Weaver is also a football trainer at Holy Family, so she tends to the players during games and practices and takes care of injuries.
Her favorite memory at Holy Family came from being a trainer. “It was when the JV football boys got into my car and tried to lock me out while I had the keys in my hands. Then I drove away with Marcus holding on to the trunk,” said Weaver.
Being a trainer has helped Weaver to get involved and it gave her lots of fun memories throughout high school.
Equally as important as sports and training are Weaver’s friends. “I like hanging out with my friends, dancing in gas stations and driving to other parts of town.”
With her friends, Weaver is always able to have a good time.
“We go cosmic bowling and just cause chaos in the streets of Colorado,” said Weaver.
One of Weaver’s friends, senior Patrick Turner describes her as “One of the funniest people I know. We both love the same funny movies so we often have competitions where we text each other back and forth with funny movie quotes. Whoever repeats one first loses. We quote ‘Super Troopers’ a lot but she always loses because I have that movie memorized,” said Turner.
Overall, Weaver would describe herself as very unique. “I have lavish locks of hair and a unique personality.” Both of these things, Weaver said, make her stand out from everyone else.
“Katie is like a watermelon, she acts hard on the outside until you get her to crack then she’s soft and sweet,” Turner said about Weaver’s individual personality.
This year, Weaver is most looking forward to junior year ending. “I just want to be a senior now.”
