On February 28th our own RHS wrestlers decided to take a stand for school spirit and dye their hair green and yellow. The following day RHS hosted the Lou Encalada tournament. Senior Nick Ghannam said “I felt more intimidating [going into their home tournament].” It is sort of a tradition to go into the Lou Encalada tournament with a bang. “We usually get Mohawks but we decided to start a new tradition and dye our hair” said Nick.
“When we came to school everyone at school was shocked and they stared at us. I don’t regret dying my hair at all. It was a great idea and I love it. I get the same reaction f shock and awe everywhere I go and I think it looks dope.” Says Senior Cristian Yanes.
“Coach Clarckston was pretty chill about it, he made fun of our hair at first but in a fun way. I’d like to give a shout out to Clarckston.” Said Cristian.
“The best part about wrestling is seeing how far you’ve come from your very first day, having your hand raised and all seeing how far you’ve come from the beginning. Being put to the test then having it all pay off.” Said Nick.
The bold and brave wrestlers of RHS are making a statement of school spirit. They plan on keeping their hair dyed green and yellow for the rest of the school year.
