College tuition can be expensive, but what many students do not know is that there is help. Scholarships are a form of financial aid that help pay for college tuition. Most importantly they do not have to be repaid. It’s like getting free money.
There are thousands of scholarships available to students of all races, ages, and talents. Students do not need to have a 4.0 or above G.PA. to obtain a scholarship. In fact there are many community service scholarships, athletic scholarships and minority scholarships.
Finding scholarships is simple. There are many online search engines to find scholarships. The best and most popular search engine is fastweb.com. You just have to type in your email give some information about yourself and it will provide you with scholarship matches. Another place to find scholarships is in the VHS college center. Ms. Nilou Pourmossa regularly updates the scholarships binder.
Students should be aware, though, of scholarship scams. The number one tip for students is that if you have to pay money to get money then it is probably a scam. If students have any questions about scholarships, they can contact Ms. Pourmuossa.
Scholarships can range anywhere from $100 to full tuition scholarships. It is never to early to start applying.

I strongly encourage students to apply for as many college scholarships as they possibly can. Spending just 15 min a day working on scholarship apps adds up to a TON of time by the time senior year is over. All college scholarship winners have one thing in common, they APPLIED. Good luck! :)
