Nerves were high, sweat dripped down my face, and my stomach twisted as if it were a knotted rope. My heart pounded like millions of war drums. As a whole, we held hands and finished the prayer. All of us in unison muttered our final words so loud they echoed the walls and shook the ground, pumping blood into powder and paint. From that moment, as we left the room to enter the theater, all I could see was our mission and all I could think about was our goal.

Outside, I seemed like a tranquil mountain- too strong to be moved or budged, disturbed by nothing. But, inside I was merely a leaf torn off a tree by a strong breeze tossed around the air in a crazy circle. As I heard my name called by my fellow comrade, I stood up and tried to walk; but, for some reason my legs felt like they been attached to thousand pound weights I felt heavy in every inch of my body; could this have been fear? Could I have been struck with stage fright?

As I heard my queue and stepped from the shadows onto the stage, I looked to what seemed to be a vast ocean of eyes and lights. I couldn’t see. I was blind; it seemed that time had frozen, and I was the only one that could move. Then, in a mere second, time unfroze. Everything went back in motion; my lips began to move, as well as my comrades. Our battle began, and by the end of the night we would be crowned the victor as the curtains closed and we set up for our final salute. We all knew in our hearts that we had done it. Smiles, tears, and relief filled the stage.

As the curtains opened we gave our bow and thanked everyone. As lights flashed and people screamed, I felt proud. I had accomplished a thing I never thought I would do. As we took our final picture, we stood and gave thanks to, Mrs. Bartlett, the one person who stood by our side, pushed us to the limit, believed in us, gave us that one thing that united this family.
