Many people will need braces in order to correct crooked teeth and messed up bites, and now there is an option for most people. A while ago, a new product came out that allows people to choose between visible or non-visible braces. This product is invisalign.
Getting regular braces is painful, especially for the first few days and after adjustments. Wires can poke the inside of your cheek, and biting your cheek happens more often. Because the braces make your teeth and gums sensitive, you have to be careful what you eat. It is also very difficult to clean your teeth because the metal wires get in the way. The braces themselves get dirty; food gets stuck on them. Depending on what you eat, you have to wash your braces afterward to get any food particles off the braces. Not only is having food stuck in your braces unattractive, but it causes bad breath and tooth decay if left for too long. It may become necessary to brush your teeth in a public bathroom, which can be disgusting if the bathroom is dirty, or embarrassing if the bathroom is crowded. On top of everything, you have to go in for adjustments every four to six weeks. Braces are also a major change in appearance, and while most people don’t pay that much attention to them, they can make you feel self-conscious. But some people think braces are attractive, and some women wear braces to make themselves look and feel younger.
The average two-year treatment of a full set of braces, is about $5,000. While the invisalign can be more expensive it is more convenient than the regular metal braces. It is clear, so no one can tell that you are getting your teeth straightened. It is removable, so you can eat and drink whatever you want and brush and floss properly and easily. Plus, it is comfortable because there are no metal wires to poke and irritate your cheek. The average treatment time is between 9-15 months. Unfortunately, it is not always capable of handling complicated cases or cases that require extractions (removal of teeth). Make sure your doctor is experienced if you want to correct buckteeth or messed up bites.
Whether you use metal braces or invisalign, people feel the end result is worth the effort. It is a great feeling to know that your smile is next to perfect.
