In the past few weeks since the Iowa caucus, the fight towards the GOP nomination has begun. And, the fight thus far has not been easy for any of the candidates. When the race first started in January there were seven hopefuls.

Now there are only four : front-runner and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, and Texas congressman Ron Paul.

From a near tie in Iowa, Rick Santorum surprisingly won to Romney after a miscount.

Following that, Gingrich won in South Carolina, acquiring 40% of the vote to Romney’s 28%. Since then, the heat between candidates has increased, with millions in ads and accusations flying.

Florida proved to be successful for Romney as he received 46% of the vote to Gingrich’s 32%.

Santorum and Texas Congressman Paul, who have seemed to be in the dark for the past week showed no signs of dropping out following the Florida results, and plan to move forward towards further primaries and caucuses.

The campaigns will head to the West for the rest of the week, and focus on the Nevada caucus that will take place this Saturday.
