KY AHED grant coordinator, Patricia Richardson helps senior, Alex Daniels register online for the job fair -
This week, WCHS seniors will get a jump on finding a job.
On Thursday, the 21st, approximately 75 seniors will travel to a regional job fair at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset.
The job fair, which will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, will offer WCHS students and other job seekers in surrounding counties a chance to learn about job opportunities in and around the area.
Employers in a number of fields will be present for the event, including representatives in medical, office and manufacturing fields. Potential employees will find out information pertaining to jobs, including job requirements, application processes, and salary and benefit information.
According to Patricia Richardson, WCHS KY AHED grant coordinator, who will be accompanying the students on the trip, this is the first year WCHS students will be attending the fair, which is usually only attended by adults and college age students.
“Wayne County will be the only high school attending this year.” Richardson notes. “This is a unique opportunity for our students.”
The job fair, which is free to job seekers, can benefit those students wanting to go straight into the workforce full time, or those interested in working a part time job while attending college next fall.
