The Wayne County Cardinal football team has started preparations for the 2011-2012 season.
With the warm weather, the team has begun preparing for the upcoming football season. At this point in the year, the team is working on skills including, blocking, tackling, and basic fundamentals, according to head coach, Shawn Thompson.
Thompson said the team has worked really hard so far and he believes they will be ready when the season begins.
“This team will be really competitive in each and every game,” Thompson said. “There are some experienced players on this team who will help out a lot. With a little bit of luck, I think they can compete for the district title.”
The team will continue working on skills and conditioning during the summer months before attending camp in early August. The 2011-2012 season is scheduled to begin later that month.
