Due to the large number of snow days this past winter, Wayne County students will be taking the Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT) later than usual.
The state-wide assessment, which was originally scheduled for mid April, was moved to May 9-11 at WCHS, after state officials extended the testing window for counties with a high number of days missed for inclement weather.
At the high school level, 10th and 11th graders will be tested, with sophomores taking the reading assessment, and juniors taking the science, social studies, and math portions of the test.
The rescheduling of the assessment will allow more time for teachers to prepare students for the exam, which is a component of the school’s academic index. The KCCT, which consists of open response and multiple choice questions, is given every spring to students in varying grade levels in the content areas of reading, mathematics, science, social studies, and writing.
