A traffic accident on May 7 claimed the lives of three people, including a 2010 WCHS graduate.

The accident occurred on Highway 90 in Monticello at approximately 10:30 P.M. on Saturday, when the driver of a pickup truck, Stanley David Carr, of Somerset, lost control of his vehicle on wet roads and crossed into the on-coming lane, colliding with a Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Ryan Coty Bell, 19 of Monticello.

Bell, along with his passengers Joshua W. Thompson, 31, and Kayla M. Thompson, 27, also of Monticello were pronounced dead at the scene.  Carr was transported to Wayne County Hospital and later transferred to the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.

Poor road conditions are believed to be the cause of the accident, which is still under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.

Students and teachers are mourning the loss of Ryan, who is remembered by many as a fun-loving young man, who always had a smile on his face.

WCHS math and science teacher Brenda Hoover said Ryan was a crazy and loveable guy.

“He just loved to argue,” Hoover reminisces, “almost to the point of being obnoxious at times, but he was always a good Christian boy.”

Funeral services for Bell and the other two victims will be held later this week .
