Boston Ballet is back again with the world-loved holiday performances of Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker, which was nominated as the “Best-loved Nutcracker since 2009.” All 40 of the performances occur at The Boston Opera House. The Nutcracker will make over 30 special appearances at events throughout the community during this 2011 holiday season.

“The final season of this Nutcracker production is a momentous occasion for Boston Ballet, as well as our audiences,” reported Nissinen. Boston Ballet 2011 production of The Nutcracker features Nissinen’s famous choreography, which instills the classical traditions of Marius Petipa’s The Nutcracker with renewed, neo-classical flair giving it a vivacious and invigorated feel.

For years, New Englanders have been coming to Boston to attend this extremely extraordinary and updated production of The Nutcracker. For decades, the dancers of Boston Ballet and students attending the Boston Ballet School have danced this version with skillfulness and heart.

“Dancers were fabulous. Costumes designs were just breath-taking as were the stage design and special effects. Wonderful energy from everybody from the orchestra to every dancer on stage.  And reasonable ticket prices were a gift,” reports a performance-goer from Lawrence, New York.

“Five stars! Exquisite; fabulous performance; breath-taking!” reports one review. According to many who have experienced  the Boston Ballet’s holiday tradition that is The Nutcracker, it gets two thumbs up.

The Nutcracker is a wonderful event to take your family, friends, or anyone to.
