The Indianola wrestling team moved forward in their season at the Jan. 5 dual meet against the Lincoln Railsplitters and Ankeny Hawks.
“I thought our kids competed well in the close matches,” says wrestling coach Matt Young. “We still have several things we must improve upon in the next few weeks as our competition gets tougher each week.”
The Indians started the match by easily beating the Railsplitters 66-15, pinning nine of their men. Although the Indians had a solid lead against Ankeny, the meet ended in disappointment when they had to forfeit three weight classes and the Hawks pinned the last three wrestlers to take the win. The final score was 46-27.
Upcoming home meets are on Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Weekend tournaments will be held on Feb. 7 at Des Moines Roosevelt, Feb. 21 at Urbandale and Feb. 28 at Ames.
